Underwood, 28, and Bennett, 84, will play themselves when they sing at a fundraising event attended by series regulars Tom Selleck (as Frank Reagan) and Bridget Moynahan (as Erin Reagan-Boyle). The singers will perform "It Had to Be You" and interact with Selleck and Moynahan in their scene.
"Having musical legend Tony Bennett and the hugely talented country music star Carrie Underwood perform on our show is a true gift. The talent that they bring together is amazing," the show's Executive Producer Leonard Goldberg told Us Weekly in a statement Thursday. "We're looking forward to an exciting second season premiere with a story that is certain to provoke debate, and are thrilled that Tony and Carrie can be a part of it."
Underwood's Blue Bloods gig is not her first primetime appearance on the network. In February 2010, she made her acting debut on CBS' How I Met Your Mother opposite series star Josh Radnor.
