Acting’s great and all, but Penelope Cruz‘s most cherished role these days is that of mom.
Gracing the May cover of Harper’s Bazaar, the Spanish-born Oscar-winning actress, 37, says she’s seriously slowing down her output of films now that she’s mom to Leonardo, her 14-month-old son with husband Javier Bardem.
“Maybe I’ll make one movie a year, maybe two, but it’s not going to be more than that because I have other priorities now,” says the star, whose Woody-Allen directed film To Rome With Love premieres in June.
Now that she’s settled down into happy family life with little Leo and Bardem, 43, Cruz gushes that she’s “happier in my 30s than I was in my 20s” — even though she’s still “a worrier. I am living for every day and trying to have less fear, less worry. But I have always worried about everything; it’s in my nature. It’s the thing that makes me suffer the most.”
And if the global star’s fans have trouble spotting her out and about, that’s by design.
“I won’t go to places where you’re going to find more attention. I go to the opposite,” she explains. Her ideal day? “Funning around with my family at the beach, that’s all”
