Prince William Invites Royal Air Force Pals to Wedding

Prince William

Not everyone invites their coworkers to their wedding…

But Prince William wants his Air Force squad to be there when he says "I do!" The 28-year-old royal invited all 27 members of his team–and their partners– to celebrate his upcoming nuptials to 29-year-old Kate Middleton, according to British paper The Telegraph

Flight Commander Iain "Spike" Wright, Prince William's line manager, was "dumbfounded" when he received an invitation to the April 29 wedding.

"I didn't expect it. It's a great honor," Wright told The Telegraph. "Then I relaxed and thought, 'This is actually going to be quite good fun.'"

Wright described the prince's performance as a search-and-rescue pilot: "He is a natural. He just seems to be able to cope with everything we throw at him."

Despite his royal status, William is being treated like any other pilot and had to put in a leave form to get time off for his honeymoon.

Flight Lieutenant Thomas "Sticky" Bunn said Prince William was "a really nice guy to have in the squadron," and admitted to The Telegraph that he "couldn't believe it… when that [invitation dropped] through the door with a Buckingham Palace stamp on it."
