This season of Dancing With the Stars has me hooked! I'm loving Karina Smirnoff, Audrina Patridge, Florence Henderson, Jennifer Grey, Brandy and even Bristol Palin! The gals look so stunning in their costumes, and while I know they'll all slim down as the season goes on (I mean, seven hours of dancing a day will do that to a body!), the secret behind their sleek-looking limbs is self-tanner (specifically, custom-designed faux glows by the St. Tropez team).

Melanie Mills of St. Tropez tell UsMagazine.com that the makeup and tanning for each look is based on the specific dances — brilliant! — including the waltz, cha cha, jive, and quickstep.

"Each dance has its own personality and we take that into account when we create each tan," she says.

For something delicate and romantic, like the Viennese Waltz, the tan is kept light with illuminaer added on high points like the collarbone and décolletage to catch the light. For a sexy dance like the Samba, a deeper tan is required.

"For the cha cha, we create a very deep, dark tanned look that we call the 'double dip,'" she explains. "We start with a spray of our dark tanning solution the day prior, then apply self tan mousse the morning of the show."

To get the look at home, Mills suggests self tanning before bed, then highlighting your tan the next day with a bronze gel or sheer illuminator to customize your color!
