Ioan Gruffud isn't threatened by strong females. In fact, he loves them.
On The Rachael Ray Show (airing Thursday), the Ringer actor, 38, opened up about his 2-year-old daughter Ella with actress wife Alice Evans, 40. "Ella's very, very strong. She's like her mother, so I've got my work cut out for me at home," Gruffud said. "She's insistent on not going in her bed right now."
(Gruffud and Evans met on the set of 102 Dalmatians in 2000 and married seven years later in Mexico. Ella was born in L.A. in September 2009.)
Gruffud recently had extra bonding time with his little girl while Evans was shooting The Vampire Diaries in Atlanta. "The last time she was there for 10 days," he said. "I had Ella the entire time, playing 'super dad.' It's very exciting. I love it. I can't get over what great company [a child] can be."
Now that Ella can "form full sentences," Gruffud and his wife are realizing how quickly their daughter is growing up. "That evolution is just beautiful to us."
Though there is a playroom on the Ringer set — Sarah Michelle Gellar has daughter Charlotte, 2, with husband Freddie Prinze Jr. — Gruffud's little girl prefers to play by herself.
"My daughter comes to set and she's like, 'No, no daddy. Trailer! Daddy's trailer!'" Gruffud said. "She wants to play in the trailer."
