Season 5 American Idol finalist Kevin Covais is blogging for Us Weekly. Since the show, 20-year-old has appeared in films College and Labor Pains (alongside Lindsay Lohan). He also works with the Diabetes Research Institute.

This week, the Idols really couldn’t have been handed a more exciting theme: The Songbook of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. What I would have given to be able to perform one of their songs when I did the show! Sigh. Oh well, let's discus last night's show.

We start off with a young man I can relate to: Aaron Kelly, except for the fact that nobody calls me Yoda, as viewers learned in his taped behind-the-scenes package. Aaron performed "The Long and Winding Road" and while he chose a beautiful song, his performance was a bit shaky vocally as compared to recent impressive performances of his. I agree with Kara DioGuardi that it would be in his best interest to change things up a bit next week and choose an uptempo number.

See hilarious photos of Kara and the Idol judges before they hit it big on the show!

Next up was the cute Katie Stevens. She chose "Let It Be," and I feel like everything came together perfectly for her during this performance. Definitely her best performance of the season thus far as the judges said, and I feel like she has a lot more to show in this competition and should be around next week.

Andrew Garcia had a tall order performing "Can't Buy Me Love" and he did a decent job with it. I've always thought Andrew was talented, but this performance didn’t really go anywhere from start to finish. Not quite as good as last week. The highlight for me would have to be Ellen DeGeneres commenting that "You can buy love." Boy was that awesome!

Big man Michael Lynche sang arguably my favorite song of the night with "Eleanor Rigby" and I thought he did a terrific job. He really did make it his own without straying too far from the brilliant original version, and I just love the tone of this guy's voice. Add in the funny banter about a potential peck contest with Simon, and Michael continues to be one of my favorites.

Speaking of favorites, next up was Crystal Bowersox. You can tell how musically knowledgeable she is from her package prior to singing, and that really impressed me. "Come Together" was another great song choice for her, and she delivered another terrific performance. She really rocked out and had a lot of fun with it, which was an important thing for her to show at this point in the competition. Needless to say Crystal is definite Finale material.

Our next performer was the cat with nine lives…I mean Tim Urban. He sings "All My Lovin" and this is without question his best performance ever on the Idol stage. He even took some chances with higher notes and pulled it off. He finally went out of his comfort zone a bit and performed well.

Casey James takes on Lennon's "Jealous Guy." This for me was the best of the night. It was very vulnerable and extremely heartfelt as Randy Jackson said. It is a huge risk to have that incredible band and not fully utilize it, and he did so without a hitch.

Siobhan Magnus chooses "Across The Universe." I just love her because there has never been someone quite like her on the show before. She sounded beautiful tonight, and I like that she switched it up from some of her more intense performances in weeks past. Go Siobhan!

Lee Dewyze ended the show with a bang by performing "Hey Jude," accompanied by a bagpiper. Now I love this song, and I'm a huge Lee fan, but I don’t know if he should have touched this one. Given his talent, I can’t help but feel there was something else in the songbook he could have mastered. But it was decent, and he will be safe regardless.

As to who might be in trouble Wednesday night, I predict a bottom three of Andrew, Tim, and Aaron. I feel like this was Aaron's first real slip and that he may he may be in the bottom as a result. Tim and Andrew have struggled in weeks past and I have a funny feeling one of them will be the first male finalist to go. We'll see if I know what I'm talking about come Wednesday night's results show!
