Tamra Barney drops an emotional bomb on The Dr. Oz Show on an episode airing this Thursday: The Real Housewives of Orange County star, 44, reveals she recently battled cervical cancer.
In the seventh season of the hit Bravo show, the mother of four shares her decision to have her breasts removed — and she explains exactly why to Dr. Oz.
"I had a little health scare," Barney explains on the show airing Thursday. "I was going through this divorce. I go to the doctor and I have lumps in my breasts and I had cervical cancer that had to be removed." Tamra filed for divorce in January 2010 from Simon Barney after nearly 12 years of marriage.
The reality star says she felt "panic" when she heard she had cancer, but decided to take control of her body.
"I really went through this like, 'What is going on with my body? What is going on?' I'm talking to my doctor about … doing a hysterectomy," she says, "and I have lumps and I'm thinking, 'Oh my god. I needed to take over my body.' "
Fortunately, Barney has a new man at Her side: Hubby-to-be Eddie Judge! Barney confirmed her engagement to Judge, 39, exclusively to Us Weekly last month.
Barney told Us Weekly "I was shocked" when Judge proposed in front of her children and "my answer was, 'Yes, we will marry you!"
