Copy Vera Farmiga’s Source Code Premiere Updo

I'm not a lover of action films, but there's something about Source Code that makes me psyched to see it. Maybe it's adorable Jake Gyllenhaal. Perhaps it's because the film is set on a train (I studied a lot of Hitchcock in college!), or it could be that I love both the female stars — Vera Farmiga and Michelle Monaghan, who both fly slightly under the radar in Hollywood, but never when it comes to their looks.

Farmiga hit the red carpet at Monday night's premiere with a decidedly undone updo that was at once chic and effortlessly sexy. Her stylist, Jenny Cho, tells UsMagazine.com how she created the look.

To prep hair, she spritzed in volumizer at the roots, then blow-dried with a medium-sized round brush, lifting away from the head to boost body. She then spritzed in a bit of dry shampoo to add texture. Next, she curled hair with a large-barreled iron to give it sleekness and bend. When curling sections around the hairline, she wrapped sections away from the face. She then set waves with a flexible-hold hairspray.

Now for the updo part: Leaving the front pieces out, she lifted a large section through the crown and back, gathering it in a loose ponytail. Then, she rolled the ends under to form a "faux bob" shape and secured ends with bobby pins. For the finishing touch, she gently teased sections at the front and placed them with her fingers, then misted with hairspray for hold.
