Third time's a charm?

Eight years after quitting her talk show, and two years after leaving The View, O'Donnell, 47, has confirmed she's returning to daytime TV in fall 2011.

"It's gonna be a lot different because I'm a lot older, you know. I've grown a lot and I think that it's time," O'Donnell tells Entertainment Tonight at the NYC premiere of HBO documentary A Mother's Courage: Talking Back to Autism (which is narrated by Kate Winslet).

She says her show will be "a single topic… an hour-long show about life, love and laughter." There will be "no desk…and no celebs promoting movies, [but there] may be a few giveaways."

O'Donnell says she was inspired to return after Oprah Winfrey announced she was quitting last year.

"A lot of companies have asked in the few years that I've been gone, since 2002," she says. "Now all my kids are in school and I've got my days free, and with Oprah leaving there's a huge void in daytime."

O'Donnell also offered a few words of support for Sandra Bullock, who is reeling from her husband's alleged affair with tattoo model Michelle McGee.

"She's an amazing woman, Sandra Bullock, one of the finest actresses and greatest human beings," O'Donnell says. "And I have tremendous admiration and respect for her and think that she's a good girl in every way."
