What a weenie.

New York congressman Anthony Weiner admitted Monday that he publicly lied about accidentally posting a lewd photo of himself on Twitter last month.

"I take full responsibility for my actions," Weiner, 46, said during a press conference. "This was a very dumb thing to do. [It was] a destructive thing to do. The picture was of me and I sent it."

Though the photo of his bulging crotch was intended as a direct message for 21-year-old Seattle college student Gennette Cordova, Weiner accidentally posted it to his public Twitter feed on May 27. After quickly deleting the lewd image, Weiner claimed his account had been hacked and hired a lawyer to investigate.

"I haven't told the truth," the choked up congressman admitted during the Monday press conference. "I have done things I deeply regret. I apologize to my wife and our families. I'm deeply ashamed."

Weiner added that he has inappropriately communicated with six women over the last three years. He claims none of the interactions were physical, and that they were all "women that I met on Facebook."

Despite the scandal, Weiner has no plans to split with his wife, Huma Abedin. "I love my wife very much," he said. "We've been through a great deal together and will weather this."
