She may have made her film debut as a tween, but Natalie Portman wasn't hitting parties or clubs — or any substances, illegal or otherwise — despite her early entrance into Hollywood.
In the new issue of Marie Claire, she plays the dork card. "OK, so I didn't really go to any high school parties," Portman says. "And yeah, I didn't touch pot til I was in my 20s."
The actress, 28, caught up on the pleasures of imbibing alcohol once she began attending Harvard University. "I didn't get flat-out drunk until I went to college."
Of her late-blooming ways, she muses: "But I think that's a good thing in many ways."
Her stimulant of choice? Work! "Work was like an all-you-can-eat buffet," she tells the magazine. "And I was like, 'I'm hungry!" I tend to get overambitious with what I can do"
Portman plays a mother and wife torn between two siblings — Tobey Maguire and Jake Gyllenhaal — in the new drama Brothers.
But she sets her sights on another woman, Mila Kunis, for a love scene in the movie Black Swan. Kunis recently told BlackBook of the encounter:
"It's two girls making out, and guys have a thing for that. And Nat is like every guy's dream. She's a nerd's idea of heaven…The whole thing is silly, but I can see why people care."
