It's been a few months now since a slew of celebs like Jennifer Aniston and Brooklyn Decker traded their long locks for short crops. And now the fall is right around the corner, some stars are in the awkward in-between stage as they decide whether or not to keep their lobbed-off strands or grow them out.

Enter the "shab," as Dianna Agron's hairstylist Giannandrea calls it. The Glee star, 25, who debuted a chin-length cut back in May, stepped out at the Glee: The 3-D Concert Movie premiere in L.A. on August 6, with a refreshingly cool 'do.

Here, her stylist tells Us Weekly how she gave the Glee actress' tresses an edgy upgrade.

"My inspiration was British rocker-sexy-messy," celebrity stylist Giannandrea explained to Us. "I started with her hair wet and then razor cut her bob into a more playful 'Shab' — it's a progression of the bob, but it has more life and does much more when you style it."

To style it, Giannandrea added Kerastase Volumeactive Mousse ($39, kerastase.com) to Agron's roots and ends, then blow-dried the hair without using a brush to keep it from looking too polished. After her hair was dry, she ran a boar-bristle brush through just her bangs to blow them straight. Next, Giannandrea scrunched the rest of Agron's hair with her hands and sprayed Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo ($18, sephora.com) on her whole roots. Lastly, she back brushed the top part of the head to create some volume at the crown and finished off with L'Oreal Elnett StrongHold Hair Spray ($12.99, target.com).
