Anne Hathaway’s Alexander McQueen Dress: Better on the Runway or Red Carpet?

She pulled off eight high-fashion designer creations, ranging from Valentino to Armani Prive, on Oscar night, so it's no surprise that Anne Hathaway is the first celeb to wear a look from the Alexander McQueen Resort 2012 collection on the red carpet.

The 28-year-old chose a black strapless dress with gold embroidered detail on the bodice for the premiere of her new movie One Day in New York City on Monday. She accessorized with a pair of sparkly gold Christian Louboutin heels and a matching Christian Louboutin Maykimay clutch. The dress was originally shown with an above-the-knee hemline and a fuller skirt.

Hathaway, who plays a British woman named Emma in the film, was particularly thrilled with one item from her character's wardrobe. "I loved the dress I got to wear in Paris," she told Us Weekly. "I loved it and Emma loves vintage and so do I, so it was really great to find that perfect vintage dress!"

For her upcoming role as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, the next installment in the Batman franchise, the actress follows in the footsteps of two A-listers who donned the skin-tight black leather costume before: Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry.
