That Kenny Chesney is always up to sumethin': Besides his grand slam performance on the Academy of Country Music Awards, his new concert flick, Kenny Chesney: Summer in 3D (hitting theaters on April 21) and a new album in the works, the four-time consecutive ACM and CMA Entertainer of the Year winner is going even further to do good.
The singer, 42, just announced a partnership with Nature Valley to raise up to $500,000 for the National Parks Conservation Association to preserve America's national parks and fund restoration projects at the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and Biscayne National Parks.
Just how will he accomplish this feat, you ask? By shooting a new PSA and donating $1 from each of the first 50,000 tickets sold of his big 3D flick to the NPCA!
One more question: Why the interest? Well, The star tells me, "Any time you can give back or help protect our nation's parks, that's a good thing. Growing up near the Smokey Mountains — or spending as much time in the [U.S. Virgin Islands] as I do — you realize what a resource it is for all of us. No matter who you are, what you do, that beauty is all of ours to enjoy — to go camping, hiking, to sail in — and that undeveloped land is a gift. But it's a gift to maintain. The idea people could buy tickets for my movie, and a dollar from each ticket will help maintain the parks, made me really happy. I know a lot of people are gonna see it, [and] they can also help the National Parks Conservation Association raise $50,000 to get us started on this partnership."
