George Clooney to Host Haiti Telethon

George Clooney is the latest celebrity to reach out to the victims of the disastrous earthquake that struck the island of Haiti this week.

The Up in the Air star, 48, plans to host a telethon on MTV next Friday to help raise money for the nation, the Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Clooney is in the process of reaching out to his Hollywood friends to garner famous faces for the telethon, UsMagazine.com has confirmed. The telethon will reportedly air across MTV’s various networks, including VH1.

He isn't the only star to donate. On Wednesday, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie gave $1 million to Doctors Without Borders for the organization's emergency medical operations in Haiti.

Paris Hilton, Ben Stiller, Lindsay Lohan and Adam Lambert have also urged support for the earthquake survivors through posts on their Twitter pages. Additionally, Oprah Winfrey began her talk show Wednesday by asking viewers to donate.

"This is a time where we, as a global nation, should come together and support those who are in need," she said.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association also announced this morning that it is donating$100,000 to Wyclef Jean's Yele earthquake relief fund.
