Matt Damon: Michael Douglas ‘Was a Wonderful Kisser’

When it comes to getting the scoop on kissing Michael Douglas, you might think the person to interview would be Douglas’ wife of 12 years, Catherine Zeta-Jones. But Playboy actually talked to someone else about locking lips with the 68-year-old actor: Matt Damon.

“Michael was a wonderful kisser,” Damon says in the magazine’s January issue. And the 42-year-old would know. In the upcoming HBO biopic “Behind the Candelabra” he stars as the much-younger boyfriend of the famously flamboyant piano player Liberace (played by Douglas).

And in addition to kissing men, Damon does something else he typically doesn’t do in the film. “Normally I’d say no to nudity, but I just did a lot of it … in ‘Behind the Candelabra’” he says.”  I mean, it’s tastefully done … But this movie’s not going to be for everyone.”

Though pics of Damon on set – dressed in ‘70s garb and donning a retro hairstyle – made headlines earlier this year, he considers himself lucky to have a rather dull reputation, since it helps keep the paparazzi at bay. The actor previously dated fellow celebrities like Winona Ryder and his “Good Will Hunting” co-star Minnie Driver, but in 2005 Damon married the very unfamous Luciana Barroso, a bartender he had met two years earlier in Miami. He’s now stepfather to her daughter Alexa from a previous marriage along with the three daughters they’ve had together: 6-year-old Isabella; 4-year-old Gia; and 2-year-old Stella.

“The narrative about me kind of goes, ‘He’s a boring married guy,’ which is great, because I don’t get any of that other stuff like Brad Pitt and George Clooney do,” Damon explains. “People think I’m kind of vanilla and they leave me alone to work, have an actual private life and be a husband and dad.”

But what’s it like to be the only guy in a house with five females? A pretty good deal for his daughters, apparently.

“Lucy and the girls can definitely bring me to my knees. They just know. My wife gives me sh*t because it’s harder for me to discipline my girls, probably because they’re girls,” he confesses. “With boys, I could relate more and it would probably be easier. Growing up, girls are so mysterious to us. Even as a grown man, they remain mysterious.”
