Jon Gosselin Countersues TLC for $5 Million

Jon Gosselin has officially filed a $5 million lawsuit against TLC, claiming the network damaged his reputation and career.

The suit — filed in District Court in Rockville, Md., where TLC's parent company, Discovery Communications, is based — claims that TLC would not let Gosselin, 32, host parties or make public appearances for fees.

It also alleges that TLC contacted various media outlets and persuaded them not to hire him for anything.

Usmagazine.com in a statement. "They had a cadre of lawyers so they had a one-sided agreement."

Gosselin also claims TLC still owes him $175,000 for episodes of TLC's Jon and Kate Plus 8 that have already aired.

According to his contract (signed Apr. 28, 2008), he is to receive $22,500 for each half-hour episode and $40,000 for each one-hour special, the lawsuit claims.

Gosselin is due in court Dec. 14.

On Oct. 15, TLC filed a lawsuit against Gosselin, claiming he breached his contract by making paid and unpaid TV appearances without the network's permission.

"The network has been trying privately and patiently for months to get Jon to honor the contract he signed and to comply with his obligations relating to public appearances and statements," a TLC spokesperson said in a statement."Those efforts have been unsuccessful."

Gosselin's attorney called the suit "weak, feeble and baseless."
