One big happy family!
Jillian Michaels stepped out for the first time with her partner, Heidi Rhoades, and both of their children, daughter Lukensia, 2, and son Phoenix, one-month, on Sunday in Malibu, Calif. The Biggest Loser trainer has enjoyed many outings with her recently adopted daughter, but finally made her debut with her baby boy. On Sunday, Rhoades pushed a sleeping Lukensia in a double stroller as Michaels carried Phoenix resting on her shoulder. The new parents were dressed casually in hats and sunglasses, but already looked like parenting pros.
Less than a week after Rhoades, 31, gave birth to their son on May 3, Michaels, 38, was finally able to bring their adopted daughter Lukensia home from Haiti.
The duo’s journey from couple to parents of two was an unexpected one; Michaels began her quest to begin a family on her own, but when her relationship with Rhoades became more serious, it became a joint venture.
“I was originally adopting from Africa and Heidi was originally just supporting me as the person I was dating, and Africa went nowhere,” she explained to Daily Dose. “At this point, a year and half had gone by. We’d been dating about two and a half years, and Heidi said to me, ‘You know what, sweetie? I’m 30 now, I’m going to be 31, why don’t I just try to get pregnant?’ ” The celeb trainer continued. “It’s kind of funny: most people adopt because they can’t pregnant, but she’s like, ‘I’m going to get pregnant because you’re having such a hard time adopting.’ “
“I’m kind of a believer in letting the universe flow in the way that it’s meant to,” Michaels said. “I just thought, ‘It wouldn’t happen like this if it wasn’t meant to happen like this.'”
