St. James Palace has revealed the royal transportation arrangements for their April 29 wedding.

After the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, William, 28, and Middleton, 29, will depart in a horse-drawn, open-topped 1902 State Landau carriage, which will travel along the processional route to Buckingham Palace.

The red and gold carriage should be familiar to royal watchers: Built for King Edward VII (Queen Elizabeth's grandfather), it carried Prince Charles to St. Paul's Cathedral for his 1981 wedding to Princess Diana, and the couple departed the church together in that carriage after exchanging their vows; the Duke and Duchess of York (Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson) also used it to travel to Buckingham Palace following their 1986 wedding. These days, Queen Elizabeth frequently uses the vessel to meet foreign heads of state visiting London.

What if, gasp, it rains on the big day? The Palace also announced that contingency. In the event of inclement weather, the royal couple will travel the processional in the famed Glass Coach (built in 1881) that has transported many royal brides to their weddings: Princess Alexandra in 1963, Princess Anne in 1973, Princess Diana in 1981 and Sarah Ferguson in 1986.

Middleton and William, of course, will arrive to the ceremony separately. Middleton and her father, Michael, will show up in a Rolls Royce Phantom VI — the same that was attacked by rioters (with Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles inside) in December.

Post-wedding, the bride and groom will be followed by a procession of four other horse-drawn carriages carrying the wedding party, Middleton's parents, Prince Charles and, of course, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.
