Is Steven Tyler already stirring up trouble on American Idol?

During Wednesday's Austin, Tex., audition round, Idol producers issued what they called an "apology" for the rocker's "outrageous" behavior.

"American Idol would like to apologize for last week's outrageous behavior by Steven Tyler," read the statement, which crawled on the screen just prior to the opening sequence. "Mr. Tyler has been warned and assures us it will never happen again."

After the on-screen statement was displayed, the broadcast cut to a contestant named Jake Muck walking into the audition room.

"You know what Muck rhymes with, don't you?" Tyler, 62, asked.

Muck's response: "Duck?"

"Read my lips," Tyler sniped back, implying a curse word.

Though the brief exchange and "apology" puzzled viewers, the rocker's wacky "Tyler-isms" have started to become a requisite part of season 10.

And despite telling one singer to "f–k a duck and see what hatches" and praising another for showing "just the right amount" of leg in a skirt, Tyler says he won't follow in Simon Cowell's cantankerous footsteps.

"I'm really not one for giving insults," he told UsMagazine.com. "They have a voice and I don't want them not singing to their kids when they grow up."
