After a Facebook campaign went viral asking Christian Bale to visit victims of the Aurora, Colorado theater shooting, The Dark Knight Rises actor agreed.
Warner Brothers officials confirmed to the Denver Post on Tuesday that the 38-year-old actor Oscar-winning actor is currently in Aurora paying a visit to the victims of the tragic shooting.
"Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers," an assistant for Susan Fleishman, executive vice president for Warner Brothers corporate communications said.
In the wake of the theater shooting that killed 12 and injured 58 last Friday, fans created a Facebook campaign asking Bale to visit hospitalized children. "Dear Christian Bale, please visit the injured children from the movie massacre as Batman," the campaign asked. "You have the power to be a hero right now — not a movie hero, a real flesh and blood one. Sincerely, Everyone."
Bale did release a statement about the tragedy on Saturday, saying, "Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."
Alleged gunman, James Holmes, 24, appeared in court Monday where he learned he will be continued to held on suspicion of first-degree murder without bond. The suspect reportedly tossed a canister of tear gas into the theater and opened fire. Holmes identified himself to police as "The Joker" and had his hair dyed orange at the time of his arrest.
