Ryan Lochte is coming to America’s most famous zip code!
The 11-time Olympic medalist, 28, will appear on the October 29 episode of The CW’s 90210, the network announced in a statement August 13. The swimmer will play a guest at a resort where newly reunited Naomi Clark (AnnaLynne McCord, 25) and Max Miller (Josh Zuckerman, 27) are staying to rebuild their relationship.
“When we found out Ryan Lochte was going to be in town and might appear on 90210, we felt like we’d won a gold medal! Team USA are all-stars in our book, and we’re so excited he’s making an appearance on the show,” executive producers Patti Carr and Lara Olsen tell Us Weekly in a statement. “We only wish the episode was a surf event so we could have gotten him in the water, but he deserves a little rest on dry land.”
While Lochte is the first Olympian to appear on 90210, Magnificent Seven gymnast Kerri Strug, 34, appeared on its predecessor, Beverly Hills, 90210, in its September 18, 1996 episode. In her sole scene, David Silver (Brian Austin Green, 39) bumped into the gold medalist at the registrar’s office. “If I’d won a gold medal I would be so proud to wear it. I’d have it bronzed,” David told her. Strug’s response? “You’re funny!”
Lochte isn’t the only non-actor to appear on 90210 this season: “Call Me Maybe” singer Carly Rae Jepsen, 26, will play herself in the season 5 premiere. She will perform a song from her forthcoming album as the headliner for Adriana Tate-Duncan’s (Jessica Lowndes, 23) Las Vegas show.
The fifth season of 90210 premieres October 8 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
