Ellen DeGeneres says her first week judging American Idol wannabes has been "exciting."

"I'll tell ya, I like being live because anything can happen on live television," she says on an episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show to air Friday. "Yesterday, Simon had so many buttons open on his shirt he almost had a wardrobe malfunction…."

See who got voted off Thursday's Idol!

As for Ryan Seacrest? "I always knew that Ryan worked hard, but I had no idea," she said of the host, who also has a daily radio show and produces multiple shows on E! "During the commercial breaks, he works another job selling Mary Kay cosmetics. I know, true story."

DeGeneres, 52, also says the contestants — and even the judges — "sound totally different" at home on TV as opposed to in the studio.

"The mix is different in the studio so everyone sounds one way in the studio and then I go home and I listen to it….even the judges. You know, in the studio Simon has a Texas accent and he's the sweetest guy. He's totally hairless," she joked.

DeGeneres says there's a lot of "suspense" in the studio.

Relive some of the worst Idol auditions this year

"They build up tension and nerves. I won't do that to you, though. I'm going to tell you who I think is going to win," DeGeneres hinted. (Cowell has said he thinks it'll be a woman.)

Alas, her next statement?

"I think the person who's going to win is…a girl or a guy…" she joked.
