Mo’Nique Dedicates Golden Globe Win to Abuse Victims

Mo'Nique may not have prepared her speech, but when she won Best Supporting Actress in a Drama for her role in Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire, she didn't have a hard time making a statement.

"Everybody kept asking me do I know my speech, and I said, 'No, I don't know what I'm going to say because I don't want people to think I just know I done won something,' so no, I don't know!" the 42-year-old star joked.

Although she admitted to "shaking" on stage, she thanked her husband, Sidney Hicks.

"When I tell you all I am in the midst of my dream and when I look into the eyes of the man I stood next to at 14 years old and I said to him, 'One day we're going to be stars, and he said, 'You first.'" Mo'Nique said. "And we walked this red carpet together tonight. Sidney, I will love you more than you will ever know, baby."

Mo'Nique, who played an abusive mother named Mary Jones in the film, also thanked costar Gabourey Sidibe for "letting me play" despite the serious subject matter of the film.

"I celebrate this award with all the Preciouses, with all the Marys — I celebrate this award with every person that's ever been touched," she said. "It's now time to tell. And it's okay."
