Sandra Bullock's longtime friend Larry Poindexter says she'll have no problem bouncing back from her split with Jesse James.

"I have no worries about her — I have known her since she was about 20. I think she's a fantastic person, she hasn't changed that much in those 25 years," the actor, 50, told UsMagazine.com at the MTV premiere of The Hard Times of RJ Berger at Trousdale in West Hollywood Monday.

Pointdexter went on of his pal, 45, who made her first public appearances over the weekend, "I think she's very, very capable of taking care of herself and will have no problem."

He says he was "really happy" to find out she'd adopted 4-month-old Louis Bardo from New Orleans. "I was really glad that she was able to move forward and do something that she really wanted to do."

"It was a little bit of odd timing; inappropriate and sad timing," continued Pointdexter of Bullock, who plans to raise the baby as a single parent. "The main thing is, I am so impressed that she was able to adopt and keep it to herself — putting the child first."
