Lady Gaga wasn't quite "Born This Way" on the September 2012 cover of Vogue.
A new behind-the-scenes video from the pop star's photo shoot reveals how the fashion magazine airbrushed Gaga's body to make it appear significantly thinner. Vogue also touched up the New York native's wild hair and erased her skin blemishes.
Despite receiving a digital makeover, Gaga, 26, seems pleased with the final result. The "Just Dance" singer leaked the cover image in early August, tweeting: "I'm a cover girl, and it's fab." She also poked fun at her hair, saying, "I'm totally channeling Fozzie Bear."

Gaga's September 2012 Vogue cover was shot by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot. The duo has also shot A-list celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Kristen Stewart and Rooney Mara.
Though airbrushing is hardly uncommon in fashion magazines, Vogue's latest photo editing elicited an immediate backlash. "Is this airbrushing too extreme or is all fair in the name of high fashion?" the New York Post asks.
"Sometimes I wonder why people bother with the original photography anymore when the end result is basically just a photo illustration," Buzzfeed's Amy Odell wrote.
