Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick welcomed their second child, a baby girl, Sunday in Los Angeles, Us Weekly confirmed.

The couple named their daughter Penelope Scotland Disick and many fans want to know the meaning behind the unexpected name.

According to Pamela Satran at Nameberry.com, Penelope is a Greek name that means "weaver." It is also associated with the faithful wife of Odysseus in Homer's Odyssey. Popular nicknames for Penelope include Penny, Nell, Nellie and Poppy. And Scotland as a middle name, a source confirmed to Us, was a creative way to honor the little girl's dad, Scott.

The name Penelope has grown in popularity in the U.S. recently as more celebrities have chosen the name for their daughters. Actress Tina Fey's named her daughter, born on August 10, 2011, Penelope Athena Richmond, and celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson named her first child Penelope this May.

Kardashian and 29-year-old Disick's precious Penelope joins their 2-year-old son, Mason. "The entire Kardashian/Jenner clan was at the hospital and everyone was super excited!" a source told Us. The couple have been dating for five years.

Younger sister Kim Kardashian, 31, blogged Monday, "She is absolutely perfect! I am so excited to be an aunt again and can’t wait to spoil little Penelope."
