When Alyson Hannigan isn't busy playing Lily Aldrin on How I Met Your Mother, her 2-year-old daughter Satyana keeps her occupied. And now it looks like the actress' schedule is about get a bit more packed — beauty brand (and dandruff experts) Head & Shoulders just named Hannigan as their female celebrity ambassador.

But her post isn't because she suffers from an itchy scalp — the 37-year-old star is also spearheading the brand's online advice manual for women, entitled The Good Girlfriend Guide.

"Women can log onto the Head & Shoulders for Women Facebook Fan Page and give their own advice on everything from beauty to motherhood to relationships," Hannigan tells Us Weekly. "It'll be a lot of fun — the bits of advice will help women navigate the waters of life."

(As part of the campaign, 50 females will have their advice published in The Good Girlfriend Guide and five lucky women will be chosen to attend an exclusive, all access VIP e-book launch with Hannigan in L.A. this November.)

The comedic actress (who starred in the American Pie movies) admits that she could've used an outlet like The Good Girlfriend Guide when she was younger.

"I really wanted a perm when I was in junior high school, and the day after I got one, I burst into tears," Hannigan tells Us. "It wasn't a good look for me since I was a tomboy and didn't want to do much in terms of styling my hair."

But despite an '80s perm gone-wrong, Hannigan has her beauty routine in tact today.

"These days, my daughter is knocking on the bathroom door wanting to play so I get just minutes to shower," the auburn beauty says. "As both a time- and money-saver I use 2-in-1 products like Head & Shoulders. My hair goes through a lot on-set, but I've relied on their formulas for years to keep my hair and scalp healthy. Also, I've swapped liquid foundation for powder (less messy!) and use lipstick as both a lip color and a blush."

So what's Hannigan's first order of business when it comes to fighting head-scratching behavior?

"Women who wear heavy lip liner without lipstick strikes me as odd," she tells Us. "Did they just eat lunch and the lip color wore off, or did they forget to apply altogether? You can't just let lip liner go like that!"
