Nailed it again! Lupita Nyong’o made yet another stunning red carpet appearance, this time at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday, May 3.
Posing for pictures at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, D.C., the Oscar-winning 12 Years a Slave actress, 31, was radiant and, as always, impeccably dressed. She looked gorgeous in a strapless, black-and-white gown with a peplum ruffle around her slender waist. Fred Leighton jewels added to her glam ensemble.
Earlier in the day, Nyong’o stole the show at the pre-WHCD 2014 Garden Brunch in a strapless red-and-white cocktail dress by Giambatti Valli. She paired the flirty frock with Christian Louboutin heels and a festive clutch.
Known among Hollywood and Washington, D.C, insiders as “nerd prom,” the White House Correspondents’ Dinner is a yearly event attended by the President and First Lady, other government officials, members of the press, and celebrity guests. This year’s invitees include the casts of Scandal, Orange Is the New Black, and Veep.
Community star Joel McHale is the host of the 2014 event, and will be making a speech at the dinner after President Obama addresses the crowd. “We’re thrilled that Joel will headline the dinner when we celebrate our centennial,” WHCA president Steven Thomma said.
Of the Soup host, he added: “He’s sharp, funny, and just the type of comic who can navigate the unique challenge of our dinner, making fun of Democrats, Republicans, and especially the news media. Washington can use a little good-natured ribbing.”
