Two months after walking down the aisle with Prince William, Kate Middleton appears to already have babies on the brain.

During a Sunday visit to Quebec's Freedom of the City Ceremony, Middleton, 29, greeted well wishers and revealed her hopes to start a family soon with her royal husband, also 29.

Middleton showed a hint of her maternal side Sunday when chatting with 2-year-old local child Raffaela and her dad, David Cheater. When the royal newlywed made her way to greet the family, Cheater wished her well in her efforts to have children of their own. "When I wished her and William well with starting their own family she said "Yes, I hope to." Later, Middleton complimented Cheater's own little girl, calling her "beautiful."

Raffaela wasn't the only child the Duchess and her husband encountered on Sunday. When the couple stopped by the Maison Dauphine, a drop-in shelter for homeless youth, they took in a demonstration of magic and circus acts.

At one point during the afternoon, the Duchess greeted little Lea Rose Verret, who scored a wave back from Middleton after the 5-year-old curtseyed. "She had been practicing," Verret's father, Steve, said of his little girl. "She was very impressed with the Duchess."
