Unlike her Twilight and True Blood counterparts, Nina Dobrev says her onscreen relationship with The Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder is strictly platonic.
"We expected the rumors. Like, if I wasn't dating Ian, I'd be dating Paul [Wesley]," Dobrev, 22, tells the April issue of Teen Vogue. "A lot of people who work together end up dating, so it wouldn't be unusual, but I've never dated anyone I've worked with."
Not that the actress — who portrays mortal high school student Elena and centuries-old vampire Katherine on the hit CW drama — has much time to think about dating anyway.
"When I signed on to the show, I didn't know whether I'd be playing both girls. And while it's been cool, it's also exhausting because it's double the work," she says. "You invest so much of your heart and soul and energy into making even one character. It's like doing two movies at once."
Though she's grateful to be starring on the hit vampire series, Dobrev is eager to branch out and try new things — starting with a role opposite Twilight's Kellan Lutz in The Killing Game.
"A lot of things that I'm being offered right now are horror, sci-fi, or high school related. That's what I do every day," she opines. "I want to do something different."
