Chaz Bono has cha cha'd for his last time on the Dancing With the Stars stage.
The 42-year-old author and activist was eliminated from the ABC hit Tuesday after a lackluster tango with pro partner Lacey Schwimmer.
During Monday's performance round, Bono and Schwimmer, 23, earned only 19 out of 30 points — the evening's lowest score — for their Broadway-themed routine, which was panned by judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman.
"It was like a cute little penguin trying to being a menacing bird of prey," Tonioli told Cher's son after his number, set to "The Phantom of the Opera." "The tango needs to be like a panther stalking. This character didn't fit you."
The show's first transgendered contestant — who was sent packing Tuesday over soccer pro Hope Solo — faced opposition when joining the series this fall.
"I support him no matter what he chooses to do," Bono's famous mom, 65, Tweeted when her son dealt with Internet attacks on blogs and message boards. "It took courage to do DWTS! Thank God Chaz has an unlimited supply."
Once a part of the cast, Bono and his moves were often compared to animals, but the celeb knew he had to endure the unflattering comments to get his message across en masse.
"I took so much away from this. This was an amazing journey that really pushed me and showed me I could do so much more than I thought I could," Bono told host Tom Bergeron after his elimination.
"I came on this show because I wanted to show America a different kind of man, and I know that if there was someone like me on TV when I was growing up, my whole life would have been different," he continued. "I dedicate everything I did to all the people out there like me — especially the kids and teens who are struggling. You can have a wonderful, great life and be successful and happy."
