"I'm so excited to try on a bathing suit and not want to kill myself first," the 35-year-old New York-based opera singer told Us Weekly after Tuesday's live finale in Los Angeles. "To have a summer where I feel confident in a bathing suit feels amazing."

Ward, who began season 11 of Biggest Loser: Couples competing alongside her sister, Hannah Curlee, lost 49.43% of her initial 261 pound starting weight. For her efforts, Ward will pocket the show's $250,000 prize, but says the gift of a new figure is her biggest win.

"My whole outlook on life is different; it makes me realize if I want something I can go for it," Ward tells Us. "Before, I used put so many restrictions on myself, because I was afraid to be disappointed. It's time to go out there and fall on my face a little bit. I'm excited to get out there and live life."

To maintain her new slim shape, Ward plans to continue her five- to six-day-a-week spinning workout at New York City's SoulCycle. At home, Ward will have the support of her husband, Ben, who shed more than 100 pounds on his own while his wife was at the ranch.

"[Ben] realized I was at a crossroads and he didn't want me to get to the end the journey and then he's at the crossroad," Ward reasoned. "He really dug within himself and found his issues, worked on those and shed the weight."

Ward's sister, Curlee — who lost by just three pounds — couldn't be happier handing over the title to her sibling.

"Our whole goal [and thought process] was 'wouldn't it be great to be the last two?' We were only apart by three pounds. I'm happy to stand next to her and revel in her wind and how proud I am of both of us," Curlee told Us.
