Camilla Luddington just got crowned!
The British actress has landed the plum role of Kate Middleton in William and Kate, the Lifetime original movie based on Prince William and his bride-to-be's whirlwind romance, Deadline confirms.
Luddington reportedly hails from Berkshire County — where princess-to-be Midddleton, 29, was also born. Although a new face in Hollywood, Luddington has about a dozen TV and film credits, including upcoming Hallmark TV movie Accidentally in Love.
The raven-haired beauty will star opposite actor Nico Evers-Swindell, tapped last week to play William, 28. Actor Ben Cross will play Prince Charles. Production on the fast-tracked flick — set to premiere in advance of the April 29 royal wedding — is expected to begin next week.
Last week, before Luddington's name was announced, UsMagazine.com readers weighed in on which famous actresses could be best to play the future Princess. British actress Emily Blunt was the favorite choice, garnering 43% of the votes. She was trailed by fellow Brit Keira Knightley, who scored 24% of the votes (Natalie Portman, at 22%, was close behind.)
