Jessica Alba, Gabrielle Union, Other Stars Pay Tribute to Etta James

Shortly after news spread that Etta James lost her battle with leukemia Friday, the legendary soul singer's biggest celebrity fans honored her via Twitter.

James, who would have turned 74 Wednesday, is best known for her 1961 cover of "At Last." The singer's sons, Donto and Sametto, and her husband, Artis Mills, were by James' side at the time of her passing.

Jessica Alba, 30, called James "a legend" and one of her "all-time favorite" singers. "Thank you for giving us the gift of song," she added. "What a voice!"

Gabrielle Union, 39, wrote: "We've lost another treasure. RIP Etta James."

"Classic. One of a kind. Pure soul. Etta James!" singer Kelly Rowland, 30, tweeted. "Thank you for gracing us with your incredible talent and presence."

Black Eyed Peas musician Will.i.am, 36, echoed their sentiments, writing: "Showing respect, appreciation and love for all the wonderful music and joy Etta James brought to the world."
