Much ado about nothing. Willow Smith unwittingly provoked a major tizzy on Wednesday when actor-musician Moises Arias posted a shirtless photo of himself in bed with the 13-year-old singer. However, despite the questionable and seemingly intimate moment between the pair, a source assures Us Weekly the young stars are just good friends, and that the images in question weren’t for a magazine or other project.
“It wasn’t for a shoot, just for fun, they both love to take photos and enjoy being creative with their shots,” a source tells Us. “They are like family, brother and sister, and there is nothing sexual about the photo.”
Arias, 20, is also close to her older brother, 15-year-old Jaden Smith. “Moises calls Jaden his best friend. They are very, very close and he’s been hanging with [Justin] Bieber through Jaden after that,” the source adds of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s son. “He had a girlfriend but he’s single now. Girls are actually all over him. He’s a super charming kid, but harmless.”
The Hannah Montana alum has yet to respond to the backlash, but mom Pinkett-Smith set the record straight. On May 7, the Gotham actress spoke about the controversial black-and-white photo at Los Angeles International airport.
“Here’s the deal,” she told paparazzi. “There was nothing sexual about that picture or that situation.”
“You guys are projecting your trash onto it,” she continued, with her left index finger pointing in the air. “You’re acting like covert pedophiles and that’s not cool.”
