Inside Kate Middleton’s Amazing Perks as a Future Royal

Prince William and Kate Middleton

Kate — er, Catherine — Middleton's got it made!

When she weds Prince William in 2011 (a wedding date and location announcement is reportedly imminent), the British commoner will enjoy much more than a Royal title.

Katie Nicholl, royal watcher and author of William and Harry: Behind the Palace Walls, tells UsMagazine.com about the kind of perks Middleton, 28, can expect when she becomes Princess.

"She will have her own office [shared with William], the palace, her own fleet of cars, team of security," Nicholl says.

"She'll have ladies in waiting," adds Nichol. (Usually, ladies-in-waiting are servants who attend to royal family members wherever they are — at official events and throughout a typical day.)

Middleton can also expect a "royal dresser/coordinator who will plan every detail of her outfit, from the gloves she wears to the coat on top – head to toe."

Other staffers reporting to Middleton: her own diary secretary, a full team of aides, and a couturier, Nicholls says.

"She will have a lot to do [charity work, royal functions and more]," Nicholls says. "But most of the daily grind will be taken care of for her."

Another topic of intense curiosity for Middleton is her name change from Kate to Catherine — and her future grandma-in-law Queen Elizabeth has nothing to do with it.

As Nicholls explains, "This was not a request by any officials or the Palace. It's a concerted effort from Kate to be taken more seriously."

Middleton herself "says [Kate] is just a nickname…let's not forget, it also dumps the stupid 'Waity Katy' nickname," Nicholls explains, referring to the moniker she was given after waiting 8 long years for Prince William's proposal. "Waity Catherine doesn't have quite the same ring to it."

Indeed, hours after the Prince's proposal in Kenya, the ecstatic bride-to-be signed her name as "Catherine Middleton" when she wrote in the guest book for the lakeside hut at which they stayed.

"Thank you for such a wonderful 24 hours!" she wrote (according to the UK's Sun). "Sadly no fish to be found but we had great fun trying. I love the warm fires and candle lights – so romantic! Hope to be back again soon."
