Angelina Jolie Lends Support for World Refugee Day

Angie the activist!

In anticipation of June 20's World Refugee Day, UNHCR, The UN Refugee Agency, has tapped one of its biggest celeb supporters, Angelina Jolie, to lend their support.

Jolie, 36, a UNHCR Goodwill ambassador who frequently travels to impoverished countries to greet villagers and bring awareness to the third-world areas, voiced her concern in a new PSA as part of the One campaign.

"Every day, thousands of people run from war, persecution and terror," a somber Jolie says in the spot. "Even one is too many. One family forced to flee is too many, one child growing up in a camp is too many, one refugee without hope is too many."

At the end of the 30-second spot, Jolie urges fans to visit www.unhcr.org to learn how to help.

Jolie's UNHCR spot isn't the only way she's given back this month.

On June 10, she and partner Brad Pitt, 47, donated $500,000 to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks in Pitt's home state of Missouri. Their contribution supports mid-term and long-term rebuilding efforts in the Joplin, Mo. area, which was recently destroyed by a series of tornados.

Said Jolie, "Our hearts go out to the families in Joplin who have lost so much."
