Denise Richards is "so blessed" with her three daughters — Sam, Lola and her recently adopted baby girl, Eloise Joni — but the past year hasn't been an easy one for Charlie Sheen's ex-wife.
On the Today Show Tuesday, Richards, 40, said that despite Sheen's public outbursts against her, she's in "a good place" with the former Two and a Half Men star. The actress said she's tried to "completely" shield her and Sheen's daughters — Sam, 7, and Lola, 6 — from the media reports about their dad, but his behavior led her to "have a conversation with them about addiction."
"I got a book to read to them," Richards explained. "I was just lying to them about so much, and covering up things and totally lying. It was just getting too confusing that I had to sit down with them."
"It's too early [for them to understand]," Richards said. "I told them enough for them to make sense of things that were going on."
So does Richards worry about the wellbeing of her ex-hubby? "Of course," she said. "He's the father of our children… [But] he's also a survivor. If anyone can pull themselves together, it's Charlie."
