British Member of Parliament Claire Perry is under fire after claiming Prince William‘s royal bride, Kate Middleton, was expecting her first child.
“I think Kate Middleton is pregnant — and that would be good for the economy,” the U.K. Daily Telegraph quotes Perry as telling a crowd of 250 during a Friday event at Marlborough College Summer School, where Middleton once attended.
Despite Perry’s comments, the Duchess of Cambridge, 30, is, by all accounts, not expecting, and looked as svelte as ever sipping wine at an Olympic reception Friday. However, the royal does have a plan in place when it comes to expanding her family with husband of 15 months William, 30. “There’s a window in place,” a royal insider confirms to Us Weekly. Taking in a handful of Summer Olympic events this July, the couple will also embark on an Asia-Pacific tour in September, and hope to conceive before the end of summer 2013.
Until then, Middleton is keeping busy as the Olympics roll into London and opening ceremonies begin Friday evening. Earlier on Friday, Middleton caught up with First Lady Michelle Obama during the soiree at Buckingham Palace. It is the second time Middleton and Obama have met up; in May 2011, Middleton welcomed President Barack Obama and his wife to the Palace to chat with her and William.
Thursday, Middleton, her husband and brother-in-law, Prince Harry, showed off their athletic skills at the launch of sports coaching initiative Coach Core, where the Duchess played ping pong and refereed a judge match.
