However, Mayer's name was tossed aside when the series began production, and executive producer Mark Burnett and his team settled on the current coaching staff: Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine.

Aguilera, for one, is thrilled with how the show's four coaches have gelled.

"From day one, we saw how much chemistry was there. No one came in on a high horse," Aguilera, 30, told Us Weekly. "We were all there to have a good time."

Mentoring singers Frenchie Davis and Beverly McClellan as part of Team Christina, Aguilera loves being the only girl in The Voice's boys' club.

"It's fun," she says, "But sometimes I have to be the teacher, like, 'OK, boys, behave!' They act like they're in a locker room!"
