Sharon Osbourne has been focused on living a healthy life in every way possible.

The Talk host, 60, recently revealed to Us Weekly that's she been following a new diet — and it's been a big success!

"I've lost 28 pounds on the Atkins diet," Sharon, who signed up for the program in the beginning of September, told Us on Oct. 26 at an Atkins luncheon in NYC. "I want to lose another seven and I'll do that over time."

"I've struggled with my weight for my entire life. I've been fat and I've been thin. As you know, I got the lap-band and lost a ton of weight, but it made me so sick. That's why I had to remove it. But when I removed it, I gained about 45 pounds," she explained of her 1999 lap-band surgery. "And as my 60th birthday was approaching, I didn't want to be overweight. I wanted to be healthy and keep with my family. I want to be healthy and enjoy life."

"That's when Atkins approached me about possibly doing this and I was like, 'Where do I sign?' It has been a life changing experience," Sharon said of the low-carb diet. "It's really not a diet. It's a lifestyle change."

But she's had a lot of support to help her through it. "[Son] Jack and [husband] Ozzy are doing the diet along with me and my one assistant," revealed Sharon. "They love it because it is so convenient. It's so yummy. It's all about proteins and vegetables. You can go out to eat and you can have scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, or a salad. On the diet, it's very broad what you can eat."

Her family has also been by her side during a more dire health battle this year. Last week, the reality show mom revealed in Britain's Hello! magazine that she recently made the proactive decision to undergo a double mastectomy.

"I've had cancer before, and I didn't want to live under that cloud . . . The odds are not in my favor," explained Sharon, who battled colon cancer a decade ago. "I decided to take everything off, and had a double mastectomy."

Sharon has returned the support to son Jack, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis within months of welcoming his first child, daughter Pearl, with wife Lisa Stelly on April 24.

"She's gorgeous. She is like a love muffin," Sharon said of her granddaughter. "She is like this little Michelin baby, her legs are all wrinkly and big. She's gorgeous."

She added, "Every minute with her is special."
