Lindsay Lohan says she's not a crook.
A day after she was formally charged with one count of felony grand theft for swiping a $2,500 necklace, the drama-prone star spoke out on her favorite medium: Twitter.
On an extended Twitter message Thursday night, Lohan, 24 explained her not-guilty plea: "I would never steal, in case people are wondering. I was not raised to lie, cheat, or steal."
Lohan was released Wednesday after posting 10 percent of her $40,000 bail; her probation for a 2007 DUI bust had been revoked. If convicted of the crime, she faces up to three years in prison.
Despite her not-guilty plea, her attorney told CNN Thursday that she may consider a plea deal to avoid jail time. Her next hearing is Feb. 23.
What else did Lohan do on Thursday? In her Twitter message, she wrote that she was chatting on the phone "with my sister and this movie Greenberg is on. I heard my voice which was odd — and [actor] Rhys Ifans is watching Just My Luck in the movie. Made me laugh."
She added: "I just want to be on set again, and left alone to just work!"
Another thing that irks her? Press coverage of her sexy, stylish court outfit. (A Kimberly Ovitz mini-dress, Chanel sunglasses and black patent leather pumps.) "What I wear to court shouldn't be front page news," she wrote. "It's just absurd."
