For actress and mom Soleil Moon Frye, every day is a celebration — summer included! “I love throwing parties, sleepovers, staycations — even if it’s just an ‘everyday’ day,” the mom of three, best known for her role in the 80s TV series Punky Brewster, tells Us Weekly.

“My whole focus has been about [presenting] ideas that are easy, fun to do and that are not impossible,” explains the mom of daughters Poet and Jagger and son Lyric, who created her own DIY website MoonFrye.com and will soon unveil her own line of themed celebration party kits on PSXO.com. “I would spend so much time on DIY sites that would have you sewing this, and using a hot glue gun for that, and as mom who’s just trying to find an hour in the day to do something fun with the kids, the whole point is to have super-easy bonding experiences.”

Directions
Step 1: Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Combine flour, salt and water in the mixing bowl until well blended.

Step 2: Roll dough out until it’s approximately 1/4″ thick.

Step 3: Using a small bowl or drinking glass, cut circles out of the dough.

Step 4: Press toy dinosaurs firmly into the dough circles to create the “fossil” impression, then remove.

Step 5: Transfer fossils to a parchment paper-lined baking sheet or jelly roll pan and bake in the oven for one hour. Allow to cool completely.

Soleil’s Tip: “There’s so many things lying around the house that could be fun to use. Last year, the girls and I made ice trays with their little toys inside [as a variation on this idea]. It was a total sensory thing. With the dinosaur fossils, you can have fun and make it a backyard, prehistoric adventure. Encourage the kids to find things around the house.”

Mixing bowl

Directions
Step 1: Put a small amount of your lip gloss base in a mixing bowl.

Step 2: Pour in a small amount of Kool-Aid mix to the lip gloss base and mix well. (Add more as needed to saturate the color of the lip gloss.)

Step 3: Using a different flavor of Kool-Aid to create a different color lip gloss. When mixing the two ingredients, you may need to add just a little water to the mixture for the color of the Kool-Aid to come out and the mixture to dissolve properly.

Step 4: Fill the little plastic containers with your DIY lip gloss. Now you can take your lip gloss on the go with you!

Soleil’s Tip: “This is such a fun thing to do when you have little girls over the house playing. This is something that parents and kids can do easily — perfect for a spa day or slumber party!”
