Plenty of people take their style cues from Michelle Obama — numerous J. Crew pieces sold out after she donned them — but it turns out the First Lady, 47, has some assistance when putting together her ensembles. Her personal style guru: 29-year-old stylist Meredith Koop.

According to ABC News, Koop's hairdresser, Vera Chamberlin, let the info slip to The Washington Post. Chamberlin, who works at Washington, D.C. salon Immortal Beloved, told the paper that Koop would take calls about clothes she was ordering for Obama while sitting in the styling chair.

She also talked about selecting the hats Obama and daughters Malia, 12, and Sasha, 9, wore for the Kentucky Derby.

Koop was a onetime protege of Ikram Goldman, a Chicago boutique owner who famously selected the Jason Wu gown the First Lady wore to inaugural ball in January 2009.

Obama's spokeswoman confirmed to ABC News that Koop's, "responsibilities include advising the first lady on her wardrobe and acting on her behalf in arranging for purchases, including considering the best offered price, and buying on discount if discounts are available."

Also on Koop's agenda, added the rep, is assisting Obama "in managing the demands on her time and schedule, along with other day-to-day requirements for keeping the residence running smoothly."
