Shocker! Bentley Williams Quits The Bachelorette

Bachelorette Ashley Hebert's worst fears have come true.

Three weeks into her stint on the ABC series, her favorite bachelor, Bentley Williams, has packed his bags and hit the road.

On Monday's all-new episode, Hebert, 26, confronted Williams, 28, about his ulterior motives, resulting in one of the smarmiest exits in Bachelorette history.

Pulling Williams aside during a group date, Hebert disclosed how last season's Bachelor villain, Michelle Money, told her Williams was only on the show to promote his business. Though he kept his composure during their chat and Hebert gushed that she "believed every word he said," the divorced dad quickly hatched an exit strategy — one that shook Hebert to her core.

"I don't want to stay here. I've been saying from the beginning she's not my type," Williams reasoned the day after his conversation with Hebert — and the day after he didn't receive a date rose. "All I want to be on the first plane back ASAP. I woke up this morning and it hit me, today's the day."

Telling his fellow bachelors — and Hebert — that he missed his daughter too much to stay, Williams later revealed to the cameras that his exit had more to do with the fact that last year's Bachelor winner, Emily Maynard, wasn't the new Bachelorette.

"The guys know I'm a frontrunner, but none of them have any idea that I don't care about Ashley. I had the opportunity and I played everyone," Williams said. "[Emily's] such a standout, and…Ashley looks like an ugly duckling. I'm going to make Ashley cry. I hope my hair looks OK."

When Williams dropped the bomb on Hebert, she dissolved into tears, but was sympathetic to his reason for leaving.

"I never knew I'd come in here and so soon be heartbroken," a shattered Hebert said after Williams announced he was leaving to tend to his 2-year-old daughter, Cozy. "I'm ready for my happy ending and I thought it'd be him! My heart is totally broken."

Williams, on the other hand, did all he could to speed his exit along. "It was a lot of hugging, a lot of tears, a lot of kissing," he said of his emotional last interaction with Hebert. "I talked to her like I'd talk to a girl I was interested in. Ashley is not the girl I'm smitten by, but definitely the type of girl I'd hook up with now and then. Looking back, things could have been different if the bachelorette was Emily."
