After adopting two kids, Sheryl Crow converted her New York City loft into a more family-friendly space.

"This was the first place I ever bought, and it has always been special for me," Crow, 48, tells the July issue of Elle of her apartment, in the NoHo area of the city. "I loved the years when I lived here fulltime. Everybody in this building either grew up here or raised their kids here, and you can just tell that this is a place that has held a lot of life and a lot of good memories."

Of the process, Crow told UsMagazine.com last week, "[Wyatt and I had] been going through this for a year — Getting ready for a baby; it falling apart; getting ready for a baby; the mom changing her mind. So [now] we were excited but conservatively excited."

The "Good Is Good" singer admits that she's learned to put her children's needs first.

"He changed my life completely," Crow tells Elle of Wyatt. "I’ve really put roots down with him. His happiness is my priority…he’s like a Labrador — he needs to be outside, running around!"
