At long last, it’s Mr. and Mrs. Timberlake!
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel swapped vows after five years of dating during an emotional ceremony in front of 150 close friends and family at the Borgo Egnazia hotel in southern Italy on Friday.
“I answer to a higher power now,” Timberlake, 31, joked during a recent press conference with the Hollywood Foreign Press of Biel, 30. “We have a couple of rules in our relationship. The first rule is that I make her feel like she’s getting everything. The second rule is that I actually do let her have her way in everything. And, so far, it’s working.”
Here, Us Weekly offers a timeline of events that led to their Friday nuptials in southern, Italy and what has happened since the pair said “I do.”
October 5: With just two weeks to go until her destination wedding, bride-to-be Biel tells E! News she’s “cool as a cucumber” about planning her walk down the aisle.
October 8: As her stylist Estee Stanley put the finishing touches on her big day look, Biel was spotted in Paris at the Elie Saab bridal boutique. “She was radiant and in a really good mood!” notes a witness.
October 10: Biel flies to Rome’s Majestic hotel en route to her Italian nuptials.
October 16: Kicking off their week-long wedding festivities on Tuesday, the couple flew some of their guests — including music producer Timbaland — into Germany, then whisked them to an undisclosed Italian location on private jets. “They took extra precautions and didn’t tell anyone where they were going,” a source tells the new issue of Us Weekly. Seconds a pal of the groom: “Justin wanted to be very slick with it!”
October 18: The night before Timberlake and Biel’s nuptials, the couple mingled with causally dressed celeb pals including Andy Samberg, Biel’s 7th Heaven costar Beverley Mitchell and music manager Johnny Wright during an outdoor cocktail reception. During the Cala Masciola beachfront bash, guests watched a 10-minute fireworks display; they returned to their hotel one hour later.
October 19, 7:30 p.m. local time: When the couple were introduced as husband and wife in the hotel’s chapel, attendees cheered loudly. As the newlyweds left the chapel, walking down a grand staircase, they were showered with small, white, heart-shaped flower petals. Following the exchanging of vows, ceremony guests sipped on Bellavista Franciacorta wine during a reception held in the main piazza beside the church.
October 20: Timberlake is photographed for the first time since his wedding, and flashes his gold wedding ring during a quick outing in Fasano, Italy.
Upon arriving back on U.S. soil, the newlyweds will soon head back to work. The groom has been recording new tunes with Timbaland and his bride will soon shoot The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.
“They’re very happy,” Timberlake’s grandmother Sadie Bomar tells Us. “If they weren’t, they wouldn’t be getting married!”
