For all her famous exes, Taylor Swift is, at the end of the day, an independent woman. The "Red" singer stunned on the red carpet in a plunging white Kaufman Franco dress at the 40 Principales Music Awards on Thursday, Jan. 24, looking noticeably more mature in the knee-length frock with a deep boxy neckline.
The talked-about star explained in a recent interview that she's always savored alone-time more than fans might think.
"I'm a Sagittarius, which means, you know, I'm blindly optimistic, I love to travel, I'm always up for adventure but also always want something new," she said in the December/January issue of Vibe magazine. "Sagittarians are really independent, and we like our space. We're drawn to love but battle for that need for independence."
"Independence is something I've always needed, from when I was young, but I love the idea of romance and falling in love," Swift continued. "I've never really had a long relationship. So that's something I think about for the future. It's an interesting part of my personality: Part of me just wants to be alone."
The 23-year-old country crooner, who split from One Direction's Harry Styles, 18, earlier this month, has been spotted spending time with her family and busy writing in the studio post-breakup, even hinting at a potential new song about her most recent ex.
"Back in the studio," she tweeted cryptically on Thursday, Jan. 10, just days after news of their split first broke. "Uh oh…"
Swift has famously written a string of songs about her former flames, which include fellow singers Joe Jonas and John Mayer, as well as actors Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Lautner. One of her latest hits, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," was reportedly about Gyllenhaal, 32, whom she dated back in late 2011.
"I think once a relationship is done it's done, you can't do that back and forth thing. It's the most exhausting process," Swift told Spanish TV program El Hormiguero about the origins of the song Thursday. "Maybe I wrote that song then so I would never get back in that relationship. If you write that about it there is no way you are getting back together!"
