Two married movie stars meet on a film set, fall in love, cause a media firestorm and adopt — sound kinda familiar?

The late Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton — the Brangelina of their day — will be immortalized onscreen in Furious Love, a film based on the book of the same name, with Oscar winner Martin Scorcese tagged as its director, Deadline reports.

Taylor, who passed away in March at age 79, was married eight times — and twice to Burton, whom she met on the set of the 1963 flick Cleopatra. Their on-set affair (she was married to Eddie Fisher, he to first wife Sybil Williams) became one of the biggest tabloid scandals of all time. (Burton married five times overall and died in 1984 at age 58.)

"I've always admitted that I'm ruled by my passions, and I can't pretend I didn't know what I was doing when I became involved with Richard," Taylor wrote of their controversial union. The duo wed in 1964 and divorce in 1974 — only to wed again one year later. They split for good in 1976. (The legendary couple adopted one daughter, Maria, born in 1961.)

Deadline confirms that Burton's estate has given the film project its blessing to Paramount Pictures; Taylor's estate has yet to weigh in.
